It has been discovered that humans take decisions based on the ‘Pain & Pleasure’ principle. If implementation is felt to be ‘pleasurable’ then the same will be initiated immediately. However if it
is seen as ‘painful’ then it would likely be postponed. In the mind of the employee the postponement may be for a few days initially but later on it becomes permanent eg. Let’s say you normally brush your teeth with your right hand and you are asked to brush with your left hand or vice-versa for better dexterity. You may give it a try and come to the conclusion that it’s a chore and give it up saying it takes up too much time or it is awkward or it takes a lot of effort.
What is the resistance we feel when we take up new skills?
When we take up new skills what we are in effect doing is giving up our old habits. The resistance we feel is in fact the opposition to giving up our old habits. Habits become very dear to us. We feel very comfortable with them. We have nurtured them through years. It defines us and has become our ‘nature’.
When does an employee overcome this resistance?
Only when s/he feels that the final outcome or goal will be ‘more’ pleasurable than the pain in changing habits and that the outcome is achievable.
Many feel that certain outcomes are unachievable or that they are not ‘fated’ to achieve it.
What does Core Empowerment Technique do?
It systematically & scientifically proves that every outcome is achievable and that in reality you are actually creating your own ‘fate’. During the workshop the participant realizes that s/he is fully responsible for his/her future and that s/he has the power to design the future s/he wants. The easy-to-use tools, to do the same, are delivered in the workshop.
Many participants have recommended that Core Empowerment Technique should be considered as a foundation workshop on which soft skills & management workshops could be launched and implemented with greater effectiveness.
